Falquez - Severed Sun single cover

Severed Sun

“Severed Sun” provides a glimpse into the emotive and transformative musical experience that Falquez and his collaborators have crafted for “Known Behaviors”

Daniel Falquez, the Colombian-American musician, unveils his latest single, “Severed Sun,” offering listeners a melodic exploration into alternative rock with grunge undertones. This release is a prelude to Falquez’s debut album, “Known Behaviors,” scheduled for late January 2024.

“Severed Sun” is not merely a song; it’s a musical journey that invites reflection on our relationship with the environment. Inspired by Falquez’s earlier instrumental track “Indie,” the lyrics delve into the consequences of neglecting nature’s gifts. The haunting melody and introspective lyrics provide a poignant reminder of the urgency to address environmental decay.

The song is part of an upcoming album that promises a diverse sonic experience. “Known Behaviors,” slated for release in 2024, is a compilation of 10 tracks exploring themes ranging from love and the human condition to religion and personal experiences. The album’s unique blend of rock alternative, metal, grunge, and power pop showcases Falquez’s versatility as a musician.

The accompanying video for “Severed Sun” adds a visual dimension to the narrative, directed by Alan Gaspar with Andres Henry as the Director of Photography, both from Data Studio. Filmed at Laguna de Sayula, a desolate area outside Guadalajara, the video captures the protagonist escaping the destruction of the planet, only to realize that he is also part of the problem.

Lyrics

A severed sun
A dying ocean
The land ablaze
The air is coughing
As embers fall in vain

I don’t see myself living in harmony
With all the creatures above the sea
In this concrete jungle, we’re a disease
We’re a disease

I am waiting
(I am waiting)
Patience endless
Never understood the oblivion
The end of mindfulness

I don’t see myself living in harmony
With all the creatures above the sea
In this concrete jungle, we’re a disease
We’re a disease
